In case you have two or more Gmail accounts, you can easily import your contacts from one Gmail account to another. This may become necessary if some persons are on the contact list of one Gmail account and some other persons are on the contact list of another such account. There are times when you would like to send email to all of them together. Or sometimes, you may be interested to use only one specific Gmail account and reduce the use of other Gmail accounts. Importing (or exporting) contacts from one Gmail account to another in such situations becomes necessary. Proceed as per the following steps to do so:
(1) Export your contacts into .CSV file from one Gmail account:
- Login to your Gmail account from which you want to import the contacts.
- Click Contacts on the side of any page of Gmail account. See the image below:
- Now, click Export at the right-top of your Contacts list (see following image):
- You’ll see the following screen:
- Select whether you want to export all contacts or only one specific group.
- Under Which export format, select the first option which says Google CSV format, since you want to import these contacts into another Gmail account.
- Click Export.
- Save the exported file to your computer with a convenient name (with the .CSV extension).
- Your contacts from this Gmail account are now ready to be imported into another Gmail account. Log out from this Gmail account and then proceed to the second part.
(2) Import your contacts from .CSV file into the other Gmail account:
- Login to the other Gmail account into which you want to import the above contacts.
- Click Contacts on the side of any page of Gmail account, as we did earlier in the first part.
- Now, click Import at the right-top of your Contacts list. You’ll see the following screen:
- Click Choose File button and locate and select the CSV file that you have just prepared in the first part above.
- Once you have selected the above CSV file, its name will be displayed. Now, click on Import button towards the bottom of this screen.
- These contacts will now be imported into your presently open Gmail account and Gmail will display the number of contacts imported.
That’s it! If you have followed these steps correctly, you would have successfully imported your contacts from one Gmail account to another.
