Though a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel can help you sort a list of words into alphabetical order, it has certain limitations; for example, you’ve to enter / import the list items in individual cells and moreover, you cannot sort a normal paragraph text. Enter Alphabetizer. It can quickly sort any list of words, any paragraph, any normal text, etc., into alphabetical order.
Alphabetizer is a free online resource. It can put any text in alphabetical order in a matter of seconds. You can sort your email lists, songs, words, phrases, sentences, contact lists, web link lists, file lists, or any other type of word list. Moreover, even if you just want to alphabetize a normal paragraph of text which is not in the form of a list, you can do so easily. For example, look at the following figure, which shows this very paragraph put in alphabetical order using Alphabetizer. Here, I have removed duplicates, ignored case, and converted all words into lowercase:

How did I do it when this paragraph was not in the form of a list? Okay. In the options “My terms are separated by”, I selected “other” option and then chose space as the character separating the words. Moreover, I must confess that after the words in the above paragraph were sorted, I had to manually remove a few duplicate words which had commas and periods following them since Alphabetizer treated them as separate words.
Have a look at the interface of Alphabetizer with a sorted list of words:

Alphabetizer allows you to use the following options for sorting your list of words:
(1) Strip HTML tags from the list of words. This will be done from every entry AFTER sorting the list. This option will also remove PHP tags from your list.
(2) Ignore case (upper case or lower case) of each word while alphabetizing the list.
(3) Make all words in the list lower case and then alphabetize them.
(4) Capitalize first word. This will capitalize the first word in each entry in the list and then alphabetize by these newly capitalized entries.
(5) Remove duplicates. This option will remove duplicate entries from the list and then alphabetize it. This option will be particularly useful if you’ve a long list containing many duplicate entries and you want to remove the duplicates and also sort it alphabetically.
(6) Randomize the list of words.
(7) Ignore indefinite articles in the list of words (such as: a, an, some, any).
(8) Ignore definite article (i.e., “the”).
Alphabetizer allows you to sorts lists of words separated by:
It also allows you to add a word or expression before and/or after every word in the list after it has been sorted alphabetically. This can be useful when you want to add some repetitive text before and/or after every word in the list.
Thus, Alphabetizer can be a good option to alphabetize your list of words in a quick and easy manner and moreover, it gives you several options that may not be available with a spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
