Here is a good news for the esteemed visitors to Tech Superb. In a short span of time, Tech Superb has come up greatly, thanks to you, all our esteemed visitors. It has established its brand as a reliable and authentic tech-related site on the Internet that can provide in-depth analysis with an independent and incisive mind. I’m sure you would have noticed that Tech Superb is not scared or hesitant of calling a spade a spade. Due to the patronage it has received from its visitors, Tech Superb is rapidly rising in the galaxy of many great tech-related sites. Now, to suitably reward its visitors, Tech Superb has decided to become a “Do Follow” site. What it amounts to say is that all comments in Tech Superb that link to the comment-author’s website will be “Do Follow”. This means that the “NoFollow” attribute has been removed from the comments made by the esteemed visitors to any of the articles at Tech Superb. This can add immense value to your website, more so if you regularly comment at Tech Superb. It will allow you to have full advantage of the PageRank juice for your site from these “Do Follow” links. Moreover, it can also help increase traffic to your site when other visitors click on link to your site from within the comments. This is my modest way of “thanking” the visitors to Tech Superb. So, please take its full advantage by writing as many meaningful comments as you wish; Tech Superb has a large collection of articles to enable you to do that, and this number is increasing rapidly.
However, this “Do Follow” policy will be subject to some caveats to ensure that Tech Superb is not flooded by spammers. Firstly, let me point out that this “DoFollow” feature is initially being introduced as an experimental feature. I’ll review it after a reasonable period; if I find that it increases spam to such a great extent that my time is spent mainly in dealing with spam, I may have to reconsider. Likewise, I may have to see whether the comments genuinely add value to Tech Superb so as to benefit all visitors or they are just formal comments such as “Great article”, “Nice article”, etc. However, let me assure you that this “Do Follow” policy of Tech Superb will most likely continue unless it leads to some unmanageable problems.
Secondly, the comments policy for Tech Superb will be as under:
(1) All comments will be moderated. At a later stage, I may remove moderation if I find that there are (almost) no spam comments or if I can find some good plugin for that purpose (I’ve not tried to search for such a plugin so far).
(2) Spam comments will not be allowed. They will be not be approved. If approved by mistake, they will be deleted whenever noticed later, at the sole discretion of Tech Superb.
(3) To ensure that spam comments are filtered out at the initial stage itself, Tech Superb uses appropriate plugins. Moreover, as mentioned above, there will be a moderator to remove a spam comment if not detected by plugins. I hope that this should be sufficient to prevent spam comments in order to allow Tech Superb continue as “Do Follow”. However, if I find it too difficult to deal with spam and if it consumes a lot of time, I may have to reconsider this “DoFollow” policy.
(4) Please note that formal one-line comments in the form of “Nice post”, “Good article” or “Excellent”, “Great information”, etc., will not be allowed, or else such comments will be shown only without a link to the comment-author’s site. Only genuine comments that relate to the subject of the article being commented upon will be allowed. So, normally it should be at least 3-4 lines; though there is no upper limit for a good comment. Please don’t write irrelevant comment that has no connection with the subject of the article. My honest belief is that if a comment-author cannot write or does not want to write 3-4 lines as a genuine and/or meaningful comment, perhaps he or she does not deserve a “Do Follow” link to his or her site.
(5) Comments are supposed to add value to the article. They are not supposed to act as self-promotion (or link-farm) for the comment-author. Therefore, comments which are in the nature of self-promotion of the products, services, etc., of the comment-author, will not be approved. No unnecessary links may be added, please, in the body of your comments. We’re giving the benefit of a “Do Follow” link to your website through the comment-author’s name, and I think that should serve the purpose of benefiting the comment-author. Moreover, if you want to have 100 “Do Follow” links from Tech Superb, by all means have them or may be even 1000 such links; but, that should be by way of adding more number of comments (of course, meaningful comments). There is no maximum limit for the number of comments on Tech Superb. You can write comments on all articles on Tech Superb, if you so wish, including the older articles. So, gain more “Do Follow” links from Tech Superb by writing more genuine comments and not by including additional unnecessary links in the body of the comments to self-promote. I hope our policy is clear in this regard that such self-promotion will be considered as spam comments and will be deleted or not approved, as the case may be.
(6) Please note that comments that link to objectionable sites will not be allowed, and will be removed if noticed later. Objectionable sites include “ad**t” sites, sites selling spurious drugs or objects, illegal-looking sites, gambling sites, hacking site, malware sites, and sites of similar nature.
(7) These measures will not affect a genuine comment. Genuine comments are most welcome and in any number. Don’t fee hesitant to add more comments. So what if you’ve added 5 comments already in last hour to different Tech Superb articles; go and add the sixth one also if you can add some meaningful comment and get the maximum advantage for your site.
(8) These strict measures are targeted only at those comment-authors whose only aim is of spamming a site or to self-promote without adding value to the article being commented upon.
(9) Please note that our moderator will be ruthless in removing or in not approving comments which do not fulfill these requirements.
(10) Tech Superb reserves the right to not approve or to remove any comment without assigning any reason, though it would happen only in very rare cases.
(11) While I’ll try to read all your comments, it may not be possible for me to reply to all comments. It all depends upon the availability of time since I’ve also to devote sufficient time for writing meaningful articles for Tech Superb. Moreover, as I don’t expect any formal comments from you, in a similar manner, please don’t expect a formal reply to your comments from me (such as “Thanks”). My “thanks” for your comments may please be inferred from the very fact of the comments appearing on Tech Superb.
(12) Of course, other visitors are welcome to reply to the comments of their fellow comment-authors. More so, if they can solve the problem described in another comment.
So, offer your comments on Tech Superb articles and take advantage of the PageRank juice for your website and also increase traffic to your site through visitors clicking on your links from within the comments. Also, please don’t forget to add some value to the article you’re commenting upon. I respect your comments and thank you for that.
Update (December 15, 2009): Recently, in an article “Hard facts about comment spam” published on its Webmaster Central Blog, Google has further strengthened its policy against websites collecting links by posting comments on other websites, including DoFollow sites. The sites involved in links in comments are likely to be penalized in search engine ranks, as is clear from this article. Google has specifically asked sites for making the links in comments as “NoFollow” links. In view of this fact, and also in view of the fact that after Tech Superb was made a DoFollow site, there is a substantial increase in spam comments while there is not much increase in genuine comments, Tech Superb has decided to become a “NoFollow” site again. We profusely apologize for the inconvenience caused to our esteemed visitors, however, this policy change has become necessary in view of the aforesaid Google policy.
