What is blocking someone in Twitter from following you and how to do it

Twitter - blocking a person from following you You can easily block a person from following you on Twitter, if you so wish. When you block someone on Twitter, he won’t be able to follow you or send you any messages. However, if your Twitter account is public, he will still be able to view your public profile and your tweets (for example, by searching on Twitter), but your tweets won’t show up automatically on his timeline in Twitter or on his phone. Moreover, his name won’t show up on your followers list, and you won’t be on his following list.

Thus, blocking a person on Twitter means that not only you do not want to follow him, but also you want to deny him the ability to follow you or reply to you.

To block someone in Twitter from following you, proceed as under:

(1) Login to your Twitter account. Click on your Followers list. Locate the person whom you want to block from following you. There is small Actions icon / menu (that pops up when you click on it) in front of name of each person following you. Click on this icon in front of that person’s name / username, and a popup menu will appear (see figure below):

(2) One of the commands in this popup menu is “Block UserName” where UserName stands for the name / username of the person whom you want to block. Click on this command. You’ll see a confirmation dialog box appearing on the screen asking you to confirm whether you want to block this person (see figure below):

(3) Click OK if you want to block that person from following you. Otherwise, click Cancel to cancel this operation. If you click OK, that person will be blocked from following you on Twitter, and in your Followers list, you’ll find the following entry appearing for his name:

Twitter allows you to Undo the action of blocking a user from following you

This entry informs you that you’ve blocked that person from following you. It also gives you an opportunity to Undo your act of blocking him if you change your mind at a later stage. So, for remove the block at a later stage, simply click on this Undo link.

I may also point out that Twitter Support keeps an eye on block reports to see who’s getting blocked on Twitter, especially if you’re blocking a spammer from following you.
