Google has added a new Slideshow extension to the Chrome browser, that can automatically display a slideshow of photos at several image sites such as Flickr, Picasa, Facebook and Google Images. It is a useful and convenient way of viewing images on these sites. In future, this extension is likely to support more image sites.
With the Slideshow extension installed in your Google Chrome browser, when you visit one of these supported photo sites, you’ll notice a small slideshow icon in the address bar (shown in the figure below):

Just click this icon to convert the web page you’re viewing into a slideshow of images. For example, I searched “Taj Mahal”, one of the wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site, at Google Images, and the search results page transformed itself into a slideshow as under, instead of showing the normal Google Images search results page (click on the following image for an enlarged view):
You can notice the slide-bar at the bottom of the screen showing thumbnails of the images. Just click on any image to display it in the slideshow. And, yes, just hover the mouse at the right extreme corner of this slide-bar, you’ll get a large number of new thumbnails.
You may also notice a small X button in the top-centre of the image. Just click this button to close the slideshow and shift back to the standard view of the images.
In a similar manner, you can view a slideshow of pictures on Flickr, Picasa and Facebook in your Chrome browser with this extension installed. As I mentioned earlier, the Slideshow extension is likely to support more image sites in future. It goes without saying that like all other extensions, this extension is also absolutely free.
You’ll need Google Chrome version 4.0 (Beta) onwards for running the extensions on it.
Download: Download and install the Slideshow extension on Google Chrome.
