Fast and barebone Google Search

December 29, 2009, Category: Internet

Google Search Google Search has a simple interface with no unnecessary graphics or other distractions. However, of late, Google has started adding several additional features to the search results pages, such as various types of options such as video search, blog search, images search, customizations, real-time results from Twitter, news results, etc. If you feel distracted by these additional features, or if you otherwise want to see a barebone search results page without any additional features, Google offers a special search page for that.

Visit this Google Search page (http://www.google.com/ie). This search page is actually meant for searching on the mobile devices. However, you can use it for your normal web searches as well. See the following image which displays the search results page when I searched an illustrative expression using this search page:

Google Search with minimalist design

You can immediately notice that this search results page has minimalist features and has a barebone structure. It just shows the titles of the 10 top search results with links to them in 10 lines. There is no other text explaining these results. Likewise, no other additional features or ads are listed on this search results page. When you hover the mouse on a search result, in the status bar of the browser, you can notice the link details.

It may be pointed out that this search results page has the same results as the normal Google Search would display. So, the results will not differ. However, you get the search results in a page with a minimalist design with no additional objects / features. Moreover, due to its simple design, it may be slightly faster than the normal Google search.
