If a link on a web page points to your website and it does not contain a “rel=nofollow” attribute, it may help you in getting Google PageRank juice for your website; so, it is useful from the SEO point of view. If a link does not contain a “nofollow” attribute, it is generally referred to as “dofollow” link, though, strictly speaking, there is nothing called “dofollow”. You can easily check whether a link is “nofollow” or “dofollow” by viewing the source code of the web page containing that link. The source-code of a web page can be viewed by pressing Ctrl + U keys together or by clicking “View page source” from the right-click context menu. However, there are quicker ways to find out whether a particular link is a “nofollow” link or a “dofollow” link.
In Firefox browser, you can install the NoDoFollow add-on that can automatically highlight all links on a web page the moment it is displayed; the “nofollow” links are highlighted with red color background while the “dofollow” links are highlighted with blue color background. This allows you to immediately know whether a link is “dofollow” or not, and you don’t have to view the page source of the web page.
In Google Chrome browser, you can use Chrome SEO or SeoQuake browser extensions to quickly find out whether a link is a “dofollow” link; these extensions will also inform you about several other SEO-related details of the web page open currently in the Chrome browser.
