Google Voice is a useful product from Google that allows you to have a single Google number for all your phones. It has some useful features such as getting SMS by email, getting transcribed voicemail online, blocking unwanted callers, making low-cost international calls, etc. Now you can install a Google Voice extension on your Chrome browser that makes it further easy to access Google Voice features such as by automatically notifying you of new messages and giving you quick access to call via Google Voice and free SMS via Google Voice.

This extension will add a button to the Chrome’s toolbar that will automatically display the number of new messages in your Google Voice inbox. You can quickly access your recent Google Voice messages with transcripts. The extension further allows you to make calls and send free text messages by typing any number or contact name. Moreover, if search for a phone number online and a web page accordingly displays a phone number, you can call that number via Google Voice by just clicking on it.

It may be pointed out that Google Chrome is now available in the stable 4.0 version for the Windows operating system that supports extensions. For Linux, Chrome is available in beta version that supports extension. For Mac, right now, extensions are supported only in the developer version of Chrome.
