In an earlier article, I had described as to how you can use TwitterFeed to automatically send a tweet to your Twitter followers as and when you post a new article to your blog. Now, Google has started a similar service with FeedBurner for sending automatic tweets to your Twitter followers as and when a new feed is published about your article at your blog. If you’ve a blog, chances are that you’d be having a FeedBurner (RSS) feed for your posts. That means FeedBurner feed is automatically published for your blog posts. Therefore, instead of using TwitterFeed to tweet about your new posts, let FeedBurner handle your automatic tweets also. What you require to do is to set the options in your FeedBurner account.
So, sign in to your FeedBurner account. You’ll find a new Socialize button under the Publicize tab. Click on the Socialize button, and under the “Select Account” option, click on the “Add a Twitter Account” button (see figure below):
Once you add your Twitter account to your FeedBurner Account (you’ll have to sign in to your Twitter account and allow access to FeedBurner), it will appear in the above FeedBurner window. Now, select other options as to how your new Feed should be published to Twitter. Your sample tweets would be shown in the window (see the figure below):
I may also point out that the link to your feed / post in your tweet will be shortened using the Google URL Shortener service.
After setting the options, click on Activate button, and your FeedBurner account will now be set up to automatically send tweets to your Twitter followers as and when a new post is written on your blog and a new RSS feed is accordingly published.
