If your default search engine in Google Chrome browser is Google Search, and you search directly from its address bar, your search results will be from http://www.google.com, in case you’re searching from within the U.S. However, if you search from outside the U.S., the search results from Google will be from its country-specific site; for example, if you search from India your search results will be from http://www.google.co.in, that is Google’s India site. This is due to the reason that when you search at Google, it determines your location using cookies and the IP address of your computer and the search results are accordingly delivered by the corresponding country-specific Google search engine. However, if you’re using Google Chrome, it is possible to search always from Google’s main search engine, namely http://www.google.com, irrespective of where you’re.
To search always from http://www.google.com, proceed as under (this is applicable to Google Chrome and when Google is your default search engine):
(1) Visit http://www.google.com by typing this URL in the address bar. If your browser redirects you to a country-specific site of Google Search, then on that page, click on the Go to Google.com link or the Google.com in English link (one of these two links is generally displayed in the country-specific sites of Google) that’s normally located at the bottom of the country-specific Google site.
(2) Now, perform a search for any expression at http://www.google.com. This search will save your preference in a cookie on your computer, for having used http://www.google.com, i.e., the regular Google web search engine for conducting search on Google.
(3) Close all Google Chrome windows on your computer to exit Chrome completely.
(4) Open a new Google Chrome window.
The address bar in Google Chrome will now use the regular google.com search engine for conducting your searches at Google Search instead of using the country-specific Google site.
