The stable version of Yahoo! Messenger 10 has finally been released after a long wait and after several bug fixes. Certain bugs relating to the video call feature in the Messenger have also been rectified and the product is now stable. The popular Messenger has several other new and improved features to help you interact with your contacts / friends. Moreover, version 10 is now fully compatible with Windows 7.
Some of the new / improved features in Yahoo! Messenger are as under:
(1) Video calls: Make a high-quality video call to a friend from the IM window in the Messenger with synched audio, provided of course that your friend also has Yahoo! Messenger 10. Just click the Video Call button in the IM window. You can have a full-screen video call, swap video windows, position the video windows side-by-side, mute the call or place it on hold.
(2) Real-time updates about what your friends are doing: An alternate view of your contact list in Messenger shows a real-time stream of the updates of your friends in your contact list, if they have opted to share their updates. You can know about their activities in real time on Twitter, reading on Yahoo! Buzz, listening to on last.fm, etc. Also set the options for how and when you see your friends’ updates.
(3) Find more to chat about: A new hover menu lets you quickly IM a friend about his update, and the update will automatically appear inline in the conversation window, so that when you send an IM your friend will know the context in which you’ve sent the IM. However, this feature will require that your friend should also be on Yahoo! Messenger 10 to see the update inline.
(4) Language support: Messenger now supports 16 different languages. The buttons, menus and various parts of the Messenger interface will change as per the language selected by you.
