AVG 9.0 Free Anti-Virus software now available for download

Few days back, the latest AVG 9.0 Anti-Virus software’s paid version was released; and now the Free version of AVG 9.0 Anti-Virus is also available for download. It is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. The total download size is about 70 MB.

AVG 9.0 Free Anti-Virus can be downloaded from the AVG website. The free version includes the following features:

• Anti-Virus: for protection against getting or spreading a virus, worm, or Trojan horse.
• Anti-Spyware: for preventing spyware and adware accessing unauthorized information from your computer.
• LinkScanner Active Surf-Shield: checks whether a web page you’re about to visit is safe, and this check is done before you visit that page.
• LinkScanner Search-Shield: applies safety ratings to search results of the searches made by you at Google, MSN and Yahoo.
• Phishing Protection: counters the phishing attacks by checking whether a web page about to be visited by you is really what it appears to be.
• E-mail Scanner: checks dangerous attachments and links in your e-mail.
• Update Manager: latest updates for virus definitions, etc., are downloaded automatically at regular intervals to keep the computer safe from the latest threats.

Thus, AVG 9.0 Free Edition has support for the basic anti-virus solution; and moreover, it also supports the advanced features such as phishing protection, protection against spyware, protecting emails, basic rootkit protection, linkscanner to provide safety rating, etc. The interface of AVG 9.0 Free edition is more or less similar to its earlier versions.
