
Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that allows the developers to deploy rich Internet applications on the desktop by combining HTML, Ajax, Flash, and Adobe Flex technologies. It works across all the major operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux. Developers can use Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Flex Builder 3, Flash CS3 Professional, or any text editor to build their applications with AIR and create a single application installer that works across various operating systems. Now, Adobe has released the beta version of Adobe AIR 2 on Adobe Labs. It allows the developers to easily develop desktop applications across multiple platforms such as Windows, Mac, and Linux with its new capabilities. At the same time, it will provide enhanced application experiences to the end users of those applications.

New functionality in the form of multi-touch and gesture support in the applications would help the end users of the applications developed using Adobe AIR 2 to better explorer a touch-screen PC or an Apple Tablet.
