This Beta version of Office 2010 can be downloaded free of cost from Microsoft’s official site; the download will also include Beta version of Excel 2010. In this article, the main 10 benefits of the latest Excel 2010 version over the earlier versions of Excel are being discussed. This Beta version can be used freely till October, 2010, that means for about one year.
The main advantages of Excel 2010 are listed below:
(1) Improved interface for better user experience and doing things faster and easier:
Excel 2010 has further simplified the way you access various features of Excel. The traditional File menu has now been replaced with a new Microsoft Office Backstage view, that will enable you to save, share, print, and publish your spreadsheets with just a few clicks. Moreover, with the improved Ribbon, your favorite commands in Excel can be accessed more quickly by customizing tabs or creating your own to personalize them.

(2) Sophisticated data presentations:
Get more control in Excel 2010 over styles and icons, improved data bars, and highlight specific items in a few clicks using the feature of Conditional Formatting. Data bars can also be displayed for negative values to illustrate your data visuals accurately.
(3) Creating data charts in a single cell:
Excel 2010 allows you to create small charts in a single cell, using a new feature Sparklines. This will enable you to easily discover patterns in your data. This way, you can highlight important data trends such as sudden increases or decreases, in an easy and quick manner, thereby saving your time.

(4) Access your spreadsheets across multiple locations and multiple devices:
Excel 2010 allows you to easily put your spreadsheets online and then access, view, and edit them from any computer or laptop or even from your Windows Mobile based smartphone. This means that now you can access your spreadsheets across multiple locations and multiple devices. It may be pointed out that Microsoft Excel Web App allows you to edit your spreadsheets directly in a Web browser when you’re not in your office or home; and you get the same quality. Likewise, Microsoft Excel Mobile 2010 allows you to use an enhanced mobile version of Microsoft Excel specifically suited to your smartphone.
(5) Find the needed data points quickly:
Excel 2010 has a new filter enhancement for PivotTables. The Slicer feature will give you a rich visualization of your PivotTable view allowing you to dynamically segment and filter the data to display as per your needs. Moreover, the new search filter will allow you to quickly sift through large data sets in your tables and PivotTable views.

(6) Co-author a spreadsheet and work simultaneously with others on the same spreadsheet:
In Excel 2010, several persons can work together from different locations on a single spreadsheet with the help of Microsoft Excel Web App. Co-authoring of a spreadsheet allows you to edit it and share data with other persons at the same time. You can see who else is working on a spreadsheet simultaneously along with you. All modifications made by different persons are instantly shown and flagged; this allows you to know where others are editing and who are those other persons.
(7) Efficiently model and analyze data with PowerPivot:
A new free add-in for Excel 2010, PowerPivot, can be downloaded that has entirely new features of supporting streamlined integration of data from multiple sources and very fast manipulation of large data sets with up to millions of rows. Business users can easily publish and share analysis through Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, and allow others to take benefit of the same Slicer, PivotTable, and fast-query capabilities when working on their Excel Services report.

(8) Build bigger and complex spreadsheets:
The new 64-bit version of Excel 2010 makes it easy to analyze massive amounts of information. You can now analyze large and complex datasets greater than the 2-gigabyte file size limit of the previous versions of Excel.
(9) More interactive and dynamic PivotCharts:
You can display different data views directly in a PivotChart, independent of the PivotTable views. This allows you to quickly analyze and find out the important aspects of your data.

(10) Publish and share spreadsheets across organization through Excel Services:
SharePoint Server 2010 and Excel Services integration allow the business users to publish their spreadsheets to the web thereby enabling them to share analysis and results across the organization. Even sensitive business information can be shared with co-workers, customers, and business partners in a security-enhanced environment by building a business intelligence dashboard.
