If you’re good at making buildings (on paper or on your computer screen, of course), then you’ll like this new “game” from Google. That is, Google Building Maker, which has been released today for people like you for creating buildings for Google Earth. Google promises that it would be more of a fun than a tool.
Google Building Maker is a tool meant to be used for Google Earth. As you may be aware, Google Earth is an absolutely free product (though there are other professional versions of Google Earth which require payment) which can be downloaded and installed on your computer. It enables you to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, etc., for any part of the earth. You can explore different places on the earth as also its rich geographical content. The places “visited” by you on Google Earth can be saved and shared with others.

To achieve its objective of creating a three-dimensional model of every built structure on Earth as a part of Google Earth project, and to make it more accurate and stay current, Building Maker has now been released by Google as a tool to the whole world so that this creative job could be done by the people for making Google Earth a much more useful project for everybody.
Watch the following video to find out what you can do with Google Building Maker:
It may be pointed out that the Building Maker is an online tool which can run in any browser. You’ll need to sign in to your Google Account (which can be freely created in seconds if you don’t have one already) to create a building for Google Earth. You should have Google Earth installed on your computer.
All models created by users will be saved in the Google 3D Warehouse which is a giant online repository of 3D models. Users can also use Google SketchUp, a free and general-purpose 3D modeling tool for modifying your buildings created with Building Maker. In the beginning, you can make buildings in any of about 50 cities, but more cities will be added over time.
So, try your hand at creating some nice buildings for Google Earth users!
