Google Translate is a free online translation service that can translate text and web pages from one language to another. But, not many people are aware that Microsoft also offers a free online translation service that can translate text and web pages from one language to another. However, Microsoft Bing Translator does not support many languages; at the time of this writing, it supports 22 languages, whereas Google Translate supports more than 50 languages.

Visit Microsoft Translator, to translate any text from one language to another. You can also enter the URL of a web page to translate that web page. Select the source and target languages, and then click on Translate button. It also has the capability to auto-detect the language of the source-content that you want to translate into another language.
Microsoft Translator can translate text and web pages. However, it cannot translate text found on images, or in PDF files, or in Flash graphics and animation. Similarly, it may not be able to translate some dynamically generated text, such as in cascading menus.
Though it lists Internet Explorer (6, 7 and 8 versions), Firefox (2 and 3 versions) and Safari (3.x versions) as supported browsers for this translation service, I found that it worked on Google Chrome also.
There is also a Microsoft Translator web page widget that you can easily put on your web pages (if you’ve a website). This widget will allow your web pages to be translated by your visitors in real-time by way of in-place translation, without there being any need to go to a separate translation website. Thus, your visitors will be able to see your web pages in their own language, and share your page with friends in multiple languages.
